A core mission of the Long Valley Women’s Club is volunteerism, service and outreach to its communities. The following are the kinds of activities important to the Club mission.
CASA
Court Appointed Special Advocates is a national association in the United States that trains, supports and assigns court appointed advocates for abused and neglected children in order to provide them with a safe and healthy environment in permanent homes. CASA was the NJ State Project for 2018-2020.
OPERATION CHILLOUT
The NJ State Project for 2020 - 2022 will focus on assisting homeless veterans through a variety of activities and services.
Girl's Career Institute (GCI)
A mini college experience is offered at Douglass Residential College on the campus of Rutgers University. Two junior level high school girls are selected each year to participate in the program.
High School Scholarships
We award six $1000.00 scholarships every year, one music scholarship and five academic scholarships.
Food Pantry
Items are collected for the Long Valley Food Pantry at our Club monthly meetings. A list of items needed is included in the Club newsletter.
Battered Women’s Outreach
Ongoing donations will be collected at the monthly meetings. A list of needs will be in the newsletter.
St. Elizabeth Clothing for Mature Women
New and gently used clothing for mature women, and small household items are collected at Club meetings.
Days for Girls (DfG)
DfG is a global movement that prepares and distributes sustainable menstrual health solutions to girls who would otherwise miss school during their monthly periods. The nonprofit organization was founded in 2008 by an American woman, Celeste Mergens. Our Club supports this cause with donations of material, wash cloths, panties, plastic bags and other items.
Free the Girls
New and gently used bras are collected and distributed by the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs.
